Pensions: Sébastien Lecornu "did not give a position", according to Marylise Léon of the CFDT

The new Prime Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, who has begun a series of meetings with social partners on the subject of pensions, has been careful not to express his point of view on the matter. "He has not given a position on what he will do next on the subject of pensions," declared the general secretary of the CFDT, Marylise Léon, on the evening of Friday, September 12, after a meeting at Matignon.
She reiterated that her union was firmly opposed to a possible reopening of the conclave launched last year by François Bayrou, which had failed before the summer. "There was no landing pad at the end of the conclave , so we are not resuming discussions," she said.
Regarding the preparation of the budget, Marylise Léon considered that it was "out of the question that the world of work should pay for the issue of deficit reduction." "We reaffirmed to her that we were more motivated than ever to take to the streets, and that we would succeed in the mobilization of September 18 ," she said.
Lecornu "did not deny that there could be a certain number of elements, of work, on a contribution from the highest incomes", but "under what conditions, that is not yet completely defined", specified the general secretary of the CFDT.
"What the workers are waiting for is for there to be proof" of the "break" announced by the new Prime Minister , "and for us to have a demonstration that there is truly a change of method," she added.
Consultation with social partners continued in the evening with the Medef (French employers' association). Sophie Binet, the general secretary of the CGT (French General Confederation of Trade Unions), will be received at Matignon on Monday at 11 a.m., followed by the CFTC (French Trade Union Confederation) at 2:30 p.m., and the two employers' organizations, CPME and U2P, on Monday at 5 p.m. and Tuesday at 11 a.m. respectively.
